I love raindrops and roses, and whiskers on kittens…but I’m allergic, so I would say I’m a dog person. But that is not the point of this blog today. Instead, I’m wanting to share with you some of our favorite design “things” we use to spiff up any home.
Brown paper packages tied up with strings are okay. But have you seen these Juju hats? Simply amazing! Juju hats were worn by royal dancers during Bamileke tribal ceremonies. They symbolized prosperity and were created from wild bird feathers. I am in love! Mine are being shipped as we speak and I can’t wait to use them for a staging.
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens are fine, but recycled glass African beads are where it’s at. For hundreds of years, beads have played an important role in African tribal history, often symbolizing spiritual and health practices. The beads shown in the photo were crafted by artisans in rural areas of West Africa. It’s amazing that they’ve travelled all the way to the other side of the world and are now in one of Spiffy’s home designs! Simply spectacular.
When the dog bites, when the bee stings, tell him to buzz off and find some fresh flowers to bother! Floral arrangements are another one of my favorite decorative “things”. Bringing a burst of color and fresh scent, flowers are sure to spiff up any room. Each arrangement is unique and no two will ever be the same. Every flower has his own little story before making his way on to the Spiffy stage!
I like the “things” I put in our staged homes that have character and a special story. Unique and colorful features are what Spiffy design is all about. I adore pieces that jump off the coffee table and make you want to sing a song. And when I come across one, I simply remember my favorite things and then I don’t feel so bad.
